REMOTE CONTROL SM0AGP

Following installation has made it possible to remote control my amateur radio equipment in our summerhous or reverse.

My tranceivers are mainly ICOM-rigs, but I exemplify here with the IC-746.

In order to start and stop the 12 volt supply I have installed a Web-Switch 1216H with 5 different relays. That make it possible to

start the "remote rig". Another relay have the same function for the echolink/Skype-node SK0HL. A third one switches

between the 10/15/20 m yagi antenna and the 50 MHz one.

The main control of the IC-746 is done with the free of charge remote control program Ham Radio Deluxe.

To connect between the PC with HRD and the IC-746 I use a pair of microbit RRC 1258MarkII boxes. The speech-quality is excellent,

it has ports for all possible needs and a built in electronic bug i the box you put in the command end which make CW very handy.

Internet is used to interconnect the two boxes. In the summerhouse in Herresta I have a mobile broadband subscibtion from the internet-

operator 3. 99.- Skr/month for maximum 1 GB/month. The speed is 2 Mb home and 300 kb out. The modem is installed in a

Huawei D-100 W-lan with one eathernet-port. In my home in Huddinge I have a fixed Internet access from the internet-operator

ComHem with 1Mb home and 200 kb out. In order to be independent of changes in the IP-addres both are using the free of charge

DynDNS. Both boxes are equipped with a client for this service. The described bandwith is enough for acceptable speech-quality

with very few bit-losses, and I have not used up the 1 GB yet, but I am a moderate user of amateur radio.

In order to remote control my antenna-rotor I use the Easy-Rotor-Control, a kit from Ing.-Büro E.Alba de Schmidt. It interfaces

between my CDR HAM-M rotor and a COM-port on the PC. But it is very universal and fits almost every rotator and can be

operated from the rotor-program integrated in HRD. The documentation that comes with the kit is excellent and the software is excellent.
